Hi,
We have Reliance, Tata & sify in our area.
As per my personal experience, Reliance is much better than TATA in providing any service. But all this is like one eye man is king of blinds.
Also, when you are buying a new broadband then do bargain. I was surprised that this thing exists in broadband and landline connections. with the entry of private players, all this is possible to face competition.
For ex you can get 20GB data card for 1 month of Reliance high speed in 1098 (rather than 1300 or 1400) as per sites. so do bargain and ask for favour.

Share Reliance Wimax Broadband using Linksys WRT54G Wifi
Its pretty simple to share reliance wimax broadband using a Linksys WRT54G Wifi router. Just follow the below steps and its working fine at our end.
1. Connect the ethernet (RJ-45) cable (white colour) coming out from Power over Ethernet (POE) to WAN port of the router. At back side of the router your can see 5 RJ-45 ports, out of this 1 for WAN and rest 4 for LAN.
2. Connect your network card of desktop pc or laptop to any of the LAN port of the router.
3. Switch off the power to POE.
4. Go to >>>Control panel >> Network >> Local Area Connection >>> Properties >>> Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) >>> Properties >>> Select obtain IP address automatically.
5. Go to Command prompt and type ipconfig/all you should get the details as below
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
6.Open your browser (IE / Firefox) and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar and press ENTER
7. It will prompt for username and password type “admin” for both username and password. Now you are under settings page of your router.
8. Under Setup >>> Basic Setup ,Change the Local IP Address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2 (This is very important, because the Subscriber Station (receiver or SS) will have ip address as 192.168.1.1 )
9.Under Setup >>> MAC Address Clone >>> Enable >>> Click “Clone your PC’s MAC” . Then Save settings.
10.Switch on the power to POE and allow atleast 2 mins to complete hand shaking.

Reliance WIMAX Delhi & Router
Hi,
This is for those who use Reliance WIMAX and router.
In the begining, you can successfully install Router with Reliance wimax and will enjoy internet wirelessly. But later you will face the problem similar to this :-
1 Your router is not able to get IP address.
2 When you connect internet directly to computer, you can access internet.
3 You can also login to your Router.
This is because reliance back office disables the routers from getting IP address..
I found a temporary solution for that.
Just when you begin Internet, start it directly with your computer. ( I mean dont use router ).
when connected, then browse for 10 minutes or so.
Now remove the lan wire from computer and put it into WAN port of router.
Your net will work now thru router as well.
Let me help you step by step.
1 Forget that you a router.
2 Now connect your Laptop thru LAN cable to Internet.
3 Now once connected, wait for 10 minutes.
4 In these 10 minutes, Power on your router.
5 Remember that your Laptop's wireless is off this time.
6 Now after 10 minutes, Remove the Lan cable from laptop (2nd step wire ), and put it in Router's WAN port. ( Router has 1 port of WAN, and 4 ports of LAN ).
7 Now open your Laptop's wireless network.
8 Now you are connected wirelessly to your Router as well as Internet.
I found this temporary solution. In case you have any tested solution which works on Reliance WIMAX with NETGEAR ROUTER then Please do share.
Thanks & Regards

Wireless Internet Delhi
Hi,
I am here to discuss with all of you abt the wireless internet in Delhi only for time being. As I know details about delhi only..
When I say wireless, I mean Reliance broadnet (Wimax), Tata Indicom (Wimax) Type of connections.
Wireless in sense that you dont have wires coming in your house from outside. wires coming within house from roof is fine as in wimax.
Please check u r net speeds @ www.speedtest.net and take a print screen of that and post it here.
WIMAX is wireless but limited to home area as wire comes from dish to pc or laptop. It has high speed as broadband..
Data card is wireless and can be taken anywhere. But has limited speeds..
My Experience
I have used Reliance wimax, plan of 300 kbps @ 999 Unlimited , data transfer rate was 30-35 Kbps.
Plan of 400 kbps @ 999 unlimited, 40 kbps data transfer rate.
Plan of 600 Kbps @ 1399 unlimited, 60 Kbps data transfer rate.
Enquiries (not tested)
1 Tata Wimax
Now When I enquired from Tata wimax, they said that their wimax is better than reliance and customers are able to get download speed of (Transfer rate) 48 kbps + on plan of 384 kbps @ 1000 rs Unlimited.
& on 512 Kbps plan @ 1500 rs unlimited, 64 kbps data transfer rate.
2 Tata Photon
This service is in limited parts of India only. check the website.
But Interesting point to note is High speed on data card..2.4MBPS. cant believe this... even if we use 1/8 funda..300 kbps download speed (data transfer rate) should come. This is mind blowing speed. Can someone confirm that this is possible in India in present time... Chennai, J&K and few north east states have this service.
3 Airtel USB card
They say connection is of 256 kbps @ 999 Unlimited AND download speed will be of 120kbps minimum.. This is just unbelievable fake... If someone is getting this please let us know..
4 MTNL EVDO 3G service.
http://mtnldelhi.in/dolphin/service_3g.htm If anyone is using this then please share the details. I heard that 550 Per month unlimited plan with 2 mbps connectivity speed.. If that is true then even by 1/8 funda data trasnfer should come to 250 kbps..
Please share u r experiences so that everybody will get benefit from this..post them in comments under this post.
I have used reliance wimax and shared all info i have.. In case you want to know more then ask me...
Thanks & Regards
